Staying encouraged during the storm

Practicing gratitude, faith, and love can truly make a difference in our lives, especially during tough times. It’s been my foundation for handling life’s curveballs, helping me stay centered and focused. I’ve learned that cultivating a positive attitude during a storm increases the chances of success.

2024 has been a manifestation of everything positive I prayed for one day. Still can’t believe I had the blessing of being at the women’s Final Four. Life has its ups and downs, but I’ve also learned that God has a plan for each of us, to prosper and give us hope.

Yet during 2024, I experienced a sudden shift that forced me to unexpectedly pivot. Instead of lamenting a woe is me attitude and getting angry, I remembered that regardless of what you’re going through that praise & prayer are the keys that can unlock any door.

I realized that praise & prayer can bring you through anything the good, bad & ugly times. Praise & prayer can take you further than your pockets. It’s not easy to go through tough situations with a smile but praise & prayer helps.

South Carolina head women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley said it best during the national championship broadcast after guiding South Carolina to its second national championship in three years, “When God closes one door, he opens up another door that gives you unimaginable success. Uncommon Favor.”

So, let’s continue to work hard, stay prepared, and turn our worries over to God. I thank God for everything that’s happened during my life — the good, bad & ugly. All the great moments, placing me in spaces I used to dream about, meeting idols, and impacting others has been God’s favor. I am not perfect but I am thankful to wake up everyday with an opportunity to use my gifts to make a difference.

So continue to stay encouraged, dream and work hard. After all, we were all created to do something that nobody else in this world can do. With everything in life, including temporary breakdowns, God is setting all of us up for a breakthrough.

Remember, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11.
